Food Science
Food Science is designed to reinforce and enhance the student’s knowledge of scientific principles through the study of foods and nutrition. This course focuses on the relationship between the health and well-being of individuals and food preparation and consumption by connecting students to the most current information in the field of food science and nutrition. This Food Science class allows students to directly apply the fundamentals of physical sciences and earth sciences into their daily lives. Students will make scientific connections between content-specific knowledge and every meal they consume. Authentic learning will occur through hands-on laboratory experiments, cooking labs, and research-based projects.
Food Science is a year long course and can be taken as
an elective or as a third year Science credit.
